Is there a reason that a podcast which has been downloaded still streams when played instead of from the downloaded version?

Podcasts streaming, not playing from downloaded file

because it's never been coded to work like that. moving to wishlist as a more fitting place for this thread.

to get at them they should appear in the 'downloads' view or you can use the 'local media' -> 'podcast' view or any specific 'local media' views to filter / find them. or just find them outside of Winamp i.e. in Explorer and add them manually.
i agree it would make more sense to play the downloaded copy over trying to play the stream version if there is a downloaded version present (which i believe the podcast plug-in knows enough to work out where it is).
hence i've moved this to the wishlist so at least it's in the right place as this is a wish for a change in functionality (though there's never any guarantee something like this will ever be implemented).

as a wishlist item, I think what really needs to change is that the Podcast "smart view" needs to show the information shown when your in the "Subscriptions" view, since the information you see is so drastically different and in a layout that is not as conducive as well. It's also just confusing to have them so separated like that.

the issue with that wish is that the 'smartviews' are just intended as filters on what is stored in the library and so it's the same (bar some variations) irrespective of it being a podcast of files who have 'bob' in their title.
yes i can see what you mean but then that's just how Winamp has been with things added on / changed over time and never truely trying to be consistent. be it a charm or an annoyance, it's just Winamp being Winamp. if not liked then i have no problem in suggesting using something else which is better suited to your needs instead of fighting something that is going to annoy you.
if anything you're more likely to see the initial wish i.e. using the downloaded version over the stream version. since it's something i'd like and i'm more likely to try to spend doing in my own free time making changes in Winamp on something i'd actually use compared to your second wish of changing massive parts of the ui - which i wouldn't want or generally be allowed to do.
