  • Still No Album Art

Not that I dont like Winamp but I found something that I started enjoying more (AIMP). And its sad that I do. Ive always enjoyed Winamp. But, and for many this might sound petty I Want Album Art when songs play!!! For both internet music & CDs. After ALL these years. How many now? Ten? More? Still no album art. Wouldnt having album art be something that might attract more users? Maybe Im wrong but I would think so.

I just dont understand why other music players can have album art but Winamp cant? Cant they work out whatever problem it is that is keeping them from having it?

Winamp can display albumart embedded in the id3 tags of mp3 files but it no longer grabs albumart from the net to avoid copyright violations. Back when Winamp was owned by AOL, AOL paid royalties to the proprietors but the current owners no longer do.

Winamp can display both embedded and folder based art.

Wacup might be able to get art from the net.

Hello. I'm having trouble getting the embedded album art to display. I am using the Winamp Modern skin. I select View -> Album Art and it ticks, but I can can't see the Album Art box. I can see the Playlist Editor and Equaliser boxes ok. Grateful for any help please.

Find and install the old gen_classicart plugin.

Hi, TrekMan! I like Trek, too! And I like album art, too. I am happy with how wAmp uses the embedded ID3 tag covers; I embed (sometimes even scan) it myself after ripping. Too bad you can't fully benefit from that. Well, you can at least use wAmp again after AIMP has got your music fully covered!

This could be as simple as moving around the windows a bit...? You probably tried that of course, but I wanted to make sure...

If my above suggestion fails (probably!), you can find plugins like this one at the WinAmp Heritage site. I have found several. But haven't tried them yet. (They might be too old? I don't know. Does anybody here ever visit the Heritage site?)

Hi all - many thanks. Yes, I thought initially it might be hiding under another box (that's happened before), but have moved and shrunk them and nothing appears. Will look into the plug in options.
