Anyone else having real problems with RC2?

Naturally I was well excited when I logged on, and, hey presto, there was a new release of WA3, but it was not to be. I can't play a song without WA3 crashing after about 5 secs and shutting down. Anyone else have problems? I'm on Windows ME.

it aint WinME. i too am on WinME, and have been listening to MP3z and playing my DivX and MPG movies for a few hours now. not a single crash!


btw: are you using DirectSound? I had problems with this at first, and then disabled it, and it was all good afterwards.

So how do you switch from DirectSound in RC2? I cant find anything in the preferences.

Be sure that you do a clean install. I usually override the default installation directory and add the build number, for instance here's a bit of my program files folder:

c:\program files\winamp3

c:\program files\winamp3_build475
c:\program files\winamp3_build476
c:\program files\winamp3_build477
c:\program files\winamp3_rc1
c:\program files\winamp3_rc2
and so on

im on winXP and using directsound since yesterday morning with rc2 and not a single crash. about 23 hours of constant playing and still its working great. i havent shut it off since i downloaded it.

...although i doubt that helps anyone else

just saying it might not be a problem with winamp itself, its probably the machine that its running on, or the settings

The crossfader sux when i try to play a cd......it will not allow cds to be played.
It should be disactavated untill its 100% in new releases.

im useing Win xp btw.......

when i close winamp 3........

studio.exe i still see it running when i press ctrl + alt + delete....

o dear......im finding 2 many bugs.

I can't kill wa3

I tried to load an older skin and I got an assertion error and winamp crashed. The same box keeps opening up and I can't kill wa3. Ctrl-Alt-del doesn't work either. I used wintop to kill wa3, but it keepe on comming back. I'm on Win98SE. There were no files playing.

Release Candidate ... not final. You people are given a wonderful program (for free at that), and you complain.

And Bass, a lot has changed in the way of skins between beta 3 and RC2. Thus beta 3 skins prolly won't work with RC2.

Make that "beta 3 skins definitely won't work with RC2." I stayed up till 4 am last night relearning the skinning system...a lot has changed.

altho RC1 skins so far have worked without a glitch on RC2 for me. I looked at the xml... and apparently almost nothing has changed to make RC1 skins incompatible with RC2

All of the skins I have been tryng worked on RC1, at least I'm pretty sure they did.

it's a damn button!!! are you too lazy to press it your self?
it's beta software, stop complaining so much..
BTW: it's been fixed, next build will work just fine...

Im not complaining......Winamp is the best mp3 player ever.....
I was just noting on a few bugs...... i know its beta....
however betas need beta testing...reporting etc
