Winamp 3 is fat and slow

The WA3 startup time is way too slow - even compared to an app like Mozilla.

Startup time should be at least twice as fast as present. Are there any plans to optimize the WA3 code base for faster load times? This would be very much appreciated, as I don't want to have to wait for 4 GHz systems with PC6400 RAM to get decent load times with Mozilla.

WA3 will get faster, hopefully by final it will no longer be pig slow and speeds will be approaching that of 2.80.

But it's not done yet.

really whats wrong with mozilla I find it pretty fast, faster than IE occurs I used IE all the time cause its what the net uses and there is nothing NOTHING wrong with IE either both browser are great

I think stupid posts like this tell me there's a problem with the end user not the computer ...I only got 256 meg of SDRAM on XP Pro running with a 850 Mhz Duron ...and if you bitch cuz it's slow here's a hint for ya ...even tho it says RC at the end ..it's still a BETA and I don't understand why posts like this don't get removed before they see the light of day....and as far as the bitching disease I think it's just stupidity

WA3 is the fastest program since BIOS.

Code will run much faster when they change Wa3 status from "Debug" to
"Release". It uses many ASSERT macros and that slows down overall
performance of program. So speed improvment WILL happen even if they
don't write a single line of code anymore! So don't panic, everything
will be fine.
Of course, code optimizations will come in time, but that's not Nullsoft's
primary goal.
