  • A few playlist wishes

I've got a few things I'd love to see with the playlist:
    • Dragging a folder to the 'loaded playlist' section creates a new playlist with the folder name containing the contents of the folder
    • If the above is implemented, make it add all files inside that folder recursively (i.e. if I drag the folder 'Artist' to the playlist, it creates a playlist that contains all files within Artist\1\, Artist\2\, etc.)
    • An 'arrange by path and track no.' option
    • A default sort option so if I drag a file to the playlist, that file is inserted 'in order' (I realise this may slow things down a bit... but this is a wishlist - so I wish winamp could sort things in zero time )
    • Whenever Winamp is loaded, pick a playlist to open (so I can just run Studio.exe and then hit play, and a song plays)
    • Be able to set repeat/shuffle on a playlist-by-playlist basis (and maybe set the number of repeats?)
    • Be able to enqueue/dequeue whole playlists
    • Have heirachical playlists (so artist name is a 'metaplaylist', that has a tree structure so the albums by that artist are its children or such), 'playlists of playlists' if you will

I realise that this whole thing is probably a tall order so I don't expect all (or even any) of it to show up next release, but it'd be nice...

(and yeah, some of these are repeats, but this is my wish for the way the whole playlist works)

I absolutely agree with the default sort option. This has been needed since Winamp 2. I wish this had been included.

I definitely agree on the dragging folders part, but even more on the hierarchy sub-playlist thing. (in fact is was what I was planning to suggest myself)
I often have hundreds of mp3s for each artist, and keeping one playlist for each album doesn't work very well. So now I have, at the most, 192 songs in one playlist.
I has to be possible to make a system where if you double click on a playlist it opens to reveal subplaylists.
And if you click on the first playlist in the tree you get a list of all the songs in all the playlists under it. (in case you want to F3 search through the songs)

And I still think it would be a good idea to make queueing work across playlists... (and that when one playlist is done it goes on to the next)

the ability to make temporary subplaylists would also be really useful. when i do a search in winamp3 and it lists the results in PlayList Selection it would be really nice to delete and/or add songs to that playlist selection and then play those.

It would be nice to add an option to "Grey Out" items on a playlist; then, when Winamp hits these entries, it will skip to the next item in the file. Ideally, there should also be an option to have Winamp automatically grey out songs as they're played, especially when playing randomly, or for when the playlist itself is randomized.

This could be easily implemented, as it is essentially an inverse of the current "Enqueue" option in the playlist.

Of course, I'm not sure if the item queue information is saved with the internal playlists or not.... That could make things more interresting.

SUITE!!!!! (Or, sweet...I like mis-spelling words to add double meanings.....)

That's EXACTLY what I was looking for....now if Winamp could (Possibly with a Maki script?) Disable Playback on tracks as they're played....

I have exactly the same system set up and would like to see the exact same thing implemented
